Hyperspectral imaging techniques for rapid detection of nutrient content of hydroponically grown lettuce cultivars

چکیده
The analyses of online quality measurements four lettuce cultivars (Rex, Tacitus, Black Seeded Simpson, Flandria) using hyperspectral image processing techniques have been studied. Seedlings were planted in Rockwool cubes and fed for 3 weeks hydroponic nutrient solution containing 0, 50, 100, 150, 200, 250, 300 ppm nitrogen. images the freshly cut leaves captured camera wavelength range 400–1,000 nm. algorithm to measure levels leaf tissues including nitrate (NO3–), calcium (Ca2+), potassium (K+), soluble solid content (SSC), pH, total chlorophyll concentration (SPAD reading) was developed. To locate optimum wave band combination values, simple linear regression models with two spectral data namely reflectance its first derivative, indices, ratio index (RSI) normalized difference (NDSI), found. optimal bands within 506–601 nm 634–701 NO3–, Ca2+, K+, SSC, SPAD samples estimated partial least squares (PLSR) principal component analysis (PCA) bands. Both PLSR PCA produced well correlated outcome comparison laboratory measured predicting contents R2 = 0.784–0.987.

Possible Internalization of an Enterovirus in Hydroponically Grown Lettuce
Several studies have shown that enteric viruses can be transferred onto the surface of vegetables and fruits through spray irrigation, but, recently, reports have suggested viral contamination of vegetables sub-irrigated with reused wastewater. Hydroponic cultures, used to grow ready to eat fresh lettuce, have also been used to study the possibility of viral absorption through roots. This study...
متن کاملDetection of Lettuce Discoloration Using Hyperspectral Reflectance Imaging
Rapid visible/near-infrared (VNIR) hyperspectral imaging methods, employing both a single waveband algorithm and multi-spectral algorithms, were developed in order to discrimination between sound and discolored lettuce. Reflectance spectra for sound and discolored lettuce surfaces were extracted from hyperspectral reflectance images obtained in the 400-1000 nm wavelength range. The optimal wave...
متن کاملRapid molecular techniques for detection of foodborne Bacillus cereus pathogen
Background and Objective: Bacillus cereus is responsible for several outbreaks of foodborne diseases. Therefore, the purpose of the study was to replace routine culture testing, by employing PCR directly from food to detect the bacteria and its enterotoxins. Methods: In the present study, a total of 75 Kibda sandwiches, Sausage sandwiches, Luncheon chicken, Luncheon meat and shawarma sandwiche...
متن کاملInternalization and dissemination of human norovirus and animal caliciviruses in hydroponically grown romaine lettuce.
Fresh produce is a major vehicle for the transmission of human norovirus (NoV) because it is easily contaminated during both pre- and postharvest stages. However, the ecology of human NoV in fresh produce is poorly understood. In this study, we determined whether human NoV and its surrogates can be internalized via roots and disseminated to edible portions of the plant. The roots of romaine let...
